My cases have been circling the same drain for a long time now: geopolitics, international economics, high tech espionage, and some ruthless people who may or may not be global criminal masterminds. But the one question that keeps getting asked and never gets answered is a pretty simple one: Who took the money?

It used to be that you could point to the guy with the biggest bank account to answer that question. But there are a lot more of those guys around these days and a lot more bank accounts that you can’t track down. Believe me, I’ve tried. I’ve got a lot of friends in high places (and a lot more in low places), and they tell me that there’s something funny going on in the past few years. I’ve got a hunch that the Big Crash of 2008 was just the beginning. Maybe the whole thing was a set-up for a bigger scam or maybe it was a trial run for some new kind of financial weapon. But whatever happened, all I know for sure is that it didn’t happen the way we were told it happened.

Yeah, I’m confused, too. I’m confused about how we let ourselves get so scared. Scared of the people who use their power and money to take away everyone else’s power and money. Like I said, I’ve got a lot of friends and when I add up all their help with your help, I think we can take on the power and money any day of the week.
